Our measurement method

After connection setup, latency is the median of six HTTP round trips. Jitter is the mean absolute difference between consecutive samples, not ICMP ping.

Each direction starts at 16 KiB and adapts up to 4 MiB blocks. Download uses at most 32 MiB and upload at most 16 MiB. Each direction stops after 8 seconds, the whole test within 45 seconds. Download counts received bytes. Upload counts only server-confirmed complete blocks and their elapsed times. Unfinished requests also count against the budget. Insufficient samples produce an explanation instead of a speed. Mbps = bytes × 8 / seconds / 1,000,000; 1,000,000 bytes in one second is 8 Mbps.

What the result does not show

A single-connection result may differ from parallel tests. Wi-Fi, VPN, node load, device and browser affect it. A local computer node cannot measure your internet plan speed. The node and measurement time accompany the result.

Quotas and retries

At most 48 MiB per test and 3 tests per IP per 10 minutes. The node stops accepting tests when its daily budget is exhausted. Stop cancels transfers during a test.

Measures a single HTTP connection to Cloudflare’s edge network. Results show the node code, not an ISP speed guarantee.

Each start reserves 48 MiB from a shared daily 1 GiB trial budget; cancelling or finishing does not refund it. About 21 full tests per day globally; the budget resets at UTC midnight.
